ISLES CEE 477 Sustainable Design Student Presentations - January 12

Recently, the Princeton University homepage highlighted an exciting partnership between the university and Isles: the CEE 477 Sustainable Design engineering course. For the course, students are analyzing the potential for a deeply green retrofit of Isles' One Johnston Avenue textile mill. You are cordially invited to the final student presentations on their findings. Taught by Dr. Robert Harris, Co-Chair of the Isles Board of Trustees, the course in Civil and Environmental Engineering encouraged a "whole systems" approach to the building design - in keeping with Isles approach to community development. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with Marty Johnson, President of Isles, and Randy Croxton, the New York-based award-winning green architect who is heading the design team for the project.

Date: January 12, 2009
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Location: Room 004 in the Friend Center on Olden Street, across from the Engineering Quadrangle

The presentation and panel discussion will be followed by refreshments. The course was featured in the Princeton Weekly Bulletin: http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pwb/volume98/issue12/makeover/
We hope you will join us.

Graduate Student Mixer - February 10th

Each year the APGA, in partnership with various university organizations for student life, sponsors a number of mixers that provide an opportunity for current graduate students to meet with graduate alumni from their disciplines. The first mixer this year will be held on Tuesday February 10 at Guyot Hall on campus, focusing on the Natural Sciences areas. Alumni are invited to attend to give current graduate students an opportunity to learn more about how to navigate the post-graduate student life and learn from your own experience. Your experience managing the important transition from graduate school into the professional world is highly valued by graduate students. Please consider attending this evening event and sharing your thoughts with the next generation of graduate students in a casual setting. A light buffet dinner will be served.

Date: Tuesday, Feb 10, 2009
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Location: Guyot Hall (http://www.princeton.edu/%7Epumap/buildings/143.html)
RSVP: apga@princeton.edu

While the focus is on Natural Sciences, alumni from other disciplines are welcome to attend. Future mixers are planned as follows: Social Sciences and Humanities on March 24 & Engineering on April 14.
