Please complete a short survey to tell us what types of events and activities you would like to see as part of the PA3: the survey includes various types of social events, career networking events, community service projects, activities supporting students on campus, cultural events and much, much more!

You can even volunteer to organize these events.

Fridays at Noon - Alumni and undergrads

The PACE Center has organized a "Fridays at Noon" program where alumni have informal (brown bag) lunches with undergrads and talk about their careers in public service. The program starts Friday, November 7. Area alumni who would be interested in sharing their experience with their own careers in public service with Princeton students should contact Arlen Kassof Hastings '80 at hastings@ias.edu.

Little Tigers Playdates

Thank you to all of you that came out to the Little Tigers Playdates this fall. I made some new friends, and the children seemed to be having fun!

The outdoor playdates will resume in the spring. I am looking into indoor locations for the winter and will post the dates and locations as soon as I know them. In the meantime, feel free to browse the pictures of the September Playdate - a gorgeous fall day.

By the way, the child model seen in the photo is Benji, son of Jeremy Kestler '94 and Lisa Picken Kestler '96.

Community Service Update

The PA3 had another great day at Isles. A group of about half repeat volunteers and half first-timers finished up the demolition in the area where we’d begun work a month ago, and sorted the wood and other disassembled bits into piles for reuse or recycling.

Contrary to an earlier post, there will be more opportunities to volunteer at the Isles site during the winter; parts of the building will be warmed with space heaters so work can go on.

The PA3 Community Service committee is also beginning to plan a mentoring program to help Trenton area high school students through the college application and financial-aid-seeking process. We hope to begin next spring and carry on at least through one college application season – and if all goes well, to make this an ongoing PA3 program. We are in the early stages of figuring out how this is going to work and welcome the participation of alums in the planning process. Tailgate at Brown Football Game - Oct 18th, 11:00 AM

The new PA3's first football tailgate is on! Please join us for Hoagie Haven hoagies, potato salad, assorted drinks, etc., at DeNunzio Circle starting at 11:00 AM before the Princeton home game against Brown (Oct 18th). DeNunzio Circle is located in front of DeNunzio Pool and next to the football stadium parking lot. The cost is $15 per person ($10 per person for those who have paid their PA3 annual dues or who pay their annual dues "at the door"). See you there! Go Tigers!

Back by popular demand!

Join your fellow alumni for another Day of Demolition for a great cause! Spouses/partners and children (10 and up) are welcome too. No experience needed.

Isles, Inc., a Trenton-based development organization (isles.org) started by Marty Johnson '81 and other Princeton students and faculty in 1981, is coordinating a second volunteer day in cooperation with the PA3's Community Service Committee. Volunteers will work on the renovation of a beautiful, mostly vacant, circa 1895 former textile mill on the Trenton-Hamilton border. The 6.5 acre site is being converted by Isles into a mixed use, "green" village, which will include offices for public interest and environmental organizations, training facilities for inner city youth, homes, art studios and other spaces.

Because the building is currently unheated, this will be our last opportunity to work at this site until spring. We will plan more volunteer projects with Isles when the weather warms up. (Other group volunteer activities are being considered for the winter months; suggestions are welcome.)

Once again, volunteers are invited to bring donations for the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. The following non-perishable food items and hygiene supplies are especially needed: canned tuna, sardines, salmon, chicken; fruit in light syrup; juices; rice; Parmalat or other shelf-stable milk; toothpaste; deodorant; shampoo; soap; toilet paper.
